"Mountains & Big Five!"
The Waterberg is a mountainous massif of approximately 14,500 square kilometers betweeb Limpopo and Gauteng provinces, South Africa.
The average height of the mountain range is 600 m with a few peaks rising up to 1600 m above sea level. Vaalwater town is located just north of the mountain range.
The extensive rock formation was shaped by hundreds of millions of years of riverine erosion to yield diverse bluff and butte landform.
The ecosystem can be characterised as a dry deciduous forest or Bushveld. Within the Waterberg there are archaeological finds dating to the Stone Age, and nearby are early evolutionary finds related to the origin of humans.

Waterberg is the first region in the northern part of South Africa to be named as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

Entabeni is a particolar big mountain of the Waterberg: but Entabeni is also the name of the most beautiful private Reserve of the area!

In the heart of the Waterberg’s Big Five country, Entabeni is aptly named – the place of the mountain in the local language.
Covering more than 27 000 hectares of bushveld, ravines, savanna, sandy wetlands and wooded hills, it offers various types of quality accommodation and a flexible daily programme, including game drives and guided walks with a ranger, and with optional extras such as a visit to a local Pedi village, horse riding adventures, helicopter flights and meals on Hanglip Mountain, sunset boat cruises, children’s eco-educational programmes and beauty treatments.

Because of the 5 different ecosystems within the reserve, game viewing and bird watching are most rewarding in terms of the variety of species to be seen, identified by knowledgeable and friendly rangers. The upper escarpment is predominantly grassland dominated by the most beautiful crags, while a drive down between the cliffs, where a gurgling stream beckons, takes you to the warmer sandy wetlands of the lower escarpment.

Kololo is the four stars game lodge of the low waterberg area: is the best area for horseback-safari activities!
